Philippines: The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippines and the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on July 6, 2011. DILG is identified as its appropriate National Partner Agency for CDIA in the Philippines to enable cities to meet the challenges of transforming their urban infrastructure plans to investment within an urban development framework.

Activities under the collaboration will focus on capacity development for cities to help close the gap between their development plans and access to financing for implementation of strategic infrastructure investments. The MOU was signed at the ADB offices by Jesse Robredo, DILG Secretary, Michael Lindfield, ADB-CDIA Program Manager and Emiel Wegelin, GIZ-CDIA Program Coordinator.
