Jointly presented by the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and Temasek Foundation, the Temasek Foundation Leaders in Urban Governance Programme (TFLUGP) is an exclusive 5-day mayoral programme held in Singapore. TFLUGP is a practitioner-focused and action-oriented programme that allows participants to learn how Singapore overcame its urban challenges through a whole-of-government approach to create a highly dense yet highly liveable city. Through exclusive dialogue sessions with Singapore’s past and present leaders, participants will get insights into the city’s development strategies. A key feature of the programme is its expert-mentored action plan for participants to implement over one year in their home cities. CLC is part of the Singapore Ministry of National Development, with the mission to distil, create, and share knowledge on liveable and sustainable cities.
Application and Deadline
Cities are invited to apply as a team headed by the city leader(mayor/governor/municipal commissioner) together with up to two senior officials, and to bring with them an urban project the city plans to implement over the next 12 months. Participation is by application, and programme sponsorship is available from the Temasek Foundation (eligibility criteria apply). Interested city leaders are requested to fill the application form and submit a concept paper detailing the urban project. Application deadline is 1 April 2014. For 2014, TFLUGP will be held just before the World Cities Summit, 1-4 June 2014 in Singapore. The dates have been chosen so that TFLUGP participants can also stay to attend the WCS.
