CDIA participated in the annual Management Advisory Group (MAG) planning workshop of the German Agency for Cooperation (GIZ), 19 – 20 February 2014 at the New World Hotel, Makati, Philippines. The MAG is a joint planning event in the framework of German International Cooperation in the Philippines and Pacific Islands that aims to provide linkages between other GIZ programs, find synergies and set new goals for the coming year.
The objectives of this year’s planning workshop were to provide an outlook and exchange information between GIZ Head Office Germany and GIZ Philippines and Pacific Islands (GIZ PH/PI) and its projects; focus on more divided and more ecologically friendly goals for 2014 and work out what this means for GIZ portfolio development, HR development, and administrative quality; and to develop and discuss the GIZ PH/PI Operational Plan 2014.
CDIA Program Coordinator Bernhard Dohle, Program Management Officer Sarah Schneider, and Social Development Specialist Eva Ringhof presented CDIA’s latest success on urban infrastructure activities in Asian cities and linking them to finance. Bridging the capacity, planning-financing, and institutional gap in urban infrastructure investments as well as promoting cities as ‘Centers of Learning’ have been highlighted as priority areas for the upcoming year 2014. In addition, CDIA approaches on pro-poor and social inclusive development were explained.
