On May 17-18, 2018, the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC) of the Philippines, in collaboration with CDIA conducted a training workshop to enable six local government units (LGUs) in the Philippines to develop their own PPP project concept note.
The main objective of the workshop was to familiarize the participants from the cities of Quezon, General Santos, Baguio, Sto. Tomas (Batangas), Iloilo and Dipolog with the components of a Project Concept Note, a document required for seeking project preparation assistance from development partners and government financial institutions. Attendees also had the opportunity to know how the document can be utilized by LGUs during the initial PPP project development phase and also later on as basis for decision-making processes.
The workshop was officially opened by Director Jomel Anthony Gutierrez from PPPC, and Mr. Thomas Hagedorn from CDIA. Learning sessions then ensued to tackle the key elements of a project concept note.
The workshop also provided the participants with the opportunity to develop their respective concept note, which they presented to the group. On that occasion, CDIA’s Urban Infrastructure Engineer Brian Capati discussed with LGU representatives their project ideas and the requirements for getting support from CDIA.
Before the workshop ended, attendees were informed of a training on Joint Venture Agreements for LGU PPP projects, scheduled in the next few months. Recognizing that their inputs are crucial for designing such a training program, LGU representatives were asked to share their perspectives and experiences.
