Our YAP Alumni

A growing number of young urban practitioners have been seconded by partner organizations to the YAPP. Upon completing the program, they have returned to their home organizations where they can further contribute to the ongoing work on assisting city development as well as enhancing collaboration with CDIA by serving as the focal points.

Mr. Tsolmon Enkhbayar

May – Oct 2014
Urban Development Resource Center, Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia
“Many key development initiatives are made and completed by CDIA in mid-sized Asian cities.  During this program I had chance to collaborate and learn from experienced consultants and engineers. After the YAPP, I had positive impacts on my attitude and experience. I believe that the program would benefit the development of Asian cities.”

Mr. Nuwan Perera

“CDIA exposed me to what really is happening behind the scene which most of the organizational officials don’t get to see. A team of dynamic experts with diverse backgrounds and vast experience in the urban sector in Asia who are very supportive in sharing their experience and views not only makes learning a joy but also helps to enhance your learning curve. The program helped me to understand CDIA activities in a greater scale.”

Ms. Sameeha Sheth

Center for Research Development and Consultancy, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India
“CDIA not only gave me the opportunity to enhance my technical knowledge, but also gave me a chance to be an active part of many national and international forums and programs. The friendly, approachable, and helpful staff in CDIA allowed me to learn and enjoy my work immensely. My association with CDIA undoubtedly was one of thr most memorable and enriching experiences I’ve had.”

The very experienced professionals in CDIA and the CDIA-developed tools and approaches on urban development and planning have contributed to further develop my professional career as a young urban planner.”

Mr. Ali Malik

Aug 2011 – Jan 2012
Infrastructure Project Development Facility, Pakistan
“The six months I spent as a Young Urban Professional (YAP) gave me a unique learning platform, professionally and personally. CDIA is probably the only organization of its kind that gets young professionals as secondees for capacity –building initiatives, who, upon returning to their respective organizations, promote CDIA’s mandate and replicate best practices learned from various regions visited during the YAP assignment.”

Ms. Nguyen Kim Cuc

June – Dec 2010
Urban Development Agency, Ministry of Construction, Vietnam
“Being a first trainee under the YAPP, I have improved my experience in reducing the gap between planning and investment in urban upgrading and development; expanding a network with many professional experts and international organizations. I am also very grateful to act as a focal point of CDIA back in my home country, as this gives me the opportunity to support Vietnam’s cities in strengthening their capacity to formulate urban sector projects by joining CDIA training courses and events and by working with CDIA experts in the PFS process.”
