CDIA support for GVMC likely

VISAKHAPATNAM: Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), the Philippines, a global organization sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA), German Technical Co-operation and KFW Bank, has extended support in technical consultancy for preparation of pre-feasibility studies for high priority infrastructure investment projects taken up by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation.
Senior Programme Specialist in India for CDIA Balakrishnan Elangovan held discussions with Municipal Commissioner B. Sridhar and other heads of the departments here on Wednesday, according to an official release.
Mr. Elangovan explained the scope of CDIA in the areas of urban environment improvement, poverty reduction and climate change mitigation in the process of bridging the gap between the City Development Plan prepared by GVMC and its implementation.
CDIA identified Visakhapatnam as one of the few important developing cities in the country for the proposed support.
Mr. Sridhar favourably considered the CDIA proposals for technical support of various important ongoing projects.and instructed the HoDs concerned to prepare pre-feasibility study reports in the related areas. The Expression of Interest (EoI) sought by CDIA would be placed before the municipal council for approval, Mr. Sridhar said.
Additional Commissioner (General) S. Krishna Murthy, Chief Engineer B. Jayarami Reddy, Chief City Planner G.V. Raghu and Superintendent Engineers Water Supply and Water Supply Projects V.Chandrayya and C.G.K. Raju participated. HRD Consultant Rajendra Krishna coordinated the meeting.
