Almost one billion of the world’s poor live in inadequate housing in urban slums, and as cities continue to grow, the problem becomes worse. However, urban expansion is not in itself an obstacle to development. Towns and cities are important cogs in the machinery of business and commerce, and it is here where the best part of economic growth is generated.
