Stakeholders Meet on City Development Plan Revision

VISAKHAPATNAM: The first stakeholders meeting for gaining public input to the 2012-2017 City Development Plan (CDP) revision for Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) was held on September 22, 2012. The meeting was organized by the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University together with Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) who are tasked with revision of the CDP with the objective to identify priority urban infrastructure projects and potential sources of finance.
“Municipal Commissioner M.V. Satyanarayana while inaugurating the programme said the development of a city must be according to the wishes of its people and the first priority must be for basic amenities like roads, sanitation, drains, pollution control, etc. South Asia Coordinator of CDIA explained about the CDP and would be helpful to Visakhapatnam. A professor of CEPT University Saswat Bandhopadhyay also spoke.”
In the open session moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner of GVMC K. Ramesh, key government and non-government sectors were present to air their opinions on various aspects of the CDP.
