100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge
An Invitation to Mayors

Cities across the world are growing rapidly and are largely unprepared to withstand natural and man-made shocks and stresses. Building resilience is about making people, communities and systems better prepared and be able to bounce back and emerge even stronger from these catastrophic events.

The Rockefeller Foundation has launched the 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge. Your city could be one of 100 cities from around the world selected to access support for developing and implementing plans for urban resilience.

In this inaugural year, selected cities will receive three forms of support:

  • Membership in the 100 Resilient Cities Network which will provide support to member cities and share new knowledge and resilience best practices.
  • Financial or technical support for a Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) in their city to oversee the development of a resilience plan for the city and be part of a learning network of other CROs.
  • Access to support to create or implement a resilience plan, along with tools and resources for implementation.

Mayors are invited to register to apply for the challenge on behalf of their city before September 23, 2013.

Now is the time for action to ensure that our cities can withstand and bounce back from shocks and stresses.
