CDIA to participate in the 7th World Urban Forum 2014
March 14, 2014
CDIA will be one of the many presenters in the 7th World Urban Forum (WUF), 5-11 April in Medellin, Colombia. This year, host city Medellín will offer its own inspirational award-winning urban landscape to over 10,000 expected participants representing 160 countries for six days of discussions examining the conference’s theme “Urban Equity in Development – Cities for Life.”
The WUF is a non-legislative technical forum convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), hosted in a different city every two years, to examine the most pressing issues facing the world today in the area of human settlements, including rapid urbanization and its impact on cities, communities, economies, climate change and policies. It is the World’s Premier Conference on Cities.
Throughout the event, CDIA will present at various training sessions on the following topics: Connecting Mobility Plans with Financing and Knowledge; Linking Cities To Financing: Realizing Low-carbon And Climate Resilient Infrastructure Investments; How to Strengthen Urban Spatial Planning to Reduce Social Vulnerability and Exclusions in South Cities; and Linking Cities to Financing: Bridging the Gap Between Planning and Implementation of Urban Infrastructure Investments.
These learning and knowledge sessions aim to share priorities and instruments, and how to apply for support; bring different stakeholders and partners championing the cities and climate change agenda together to identify mutual partnerships to support cities; review tools and mechanisms for planning and financing low-carbon and resilient cities; highlight issues and their consequence that allows exclusions and social vulnerability; and to familiarize participants with experiences and materials as developed by UN-HABITAT and CDIA to assist cities and municipalities to move from strategies to securing financing of urban infrastructure investments.
