Now on its 5th year of recognizing the potentials of youngbloods in the field of urban development, CDIA welcomes its 2015 Young Asian Professionals (YAPs), Ms. Ritu Thakur and Mr. Umair Ahmed from the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives in India and the Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF) in Pakistan, respectively.

Ritu is a postgraduate student of Environmental Sciences in New Delhi, specializing in Water Resources in the TERI University. Meanwhile, Umair is an engineer and is currently working as an Infrastructure Specialist for the IPDF. He earned his MBA from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in France.

As the selected YAPs for this year’s implementation of the Young Asian Professional Program (YAPP), Ritu and Umair will be spending several months with the CDIA team where they will be given opportunities to further strengthen and develop their skills as urban practitioners in the Asian region. Specifically, they will be mentored to gain better project management and urban development skills. These mentoring activities include office-based work as well as missions to partner cities and municipalities.
