The CDIA Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS)-supported project on Cochin’s Water Transport is now being taken forward by KfW for financing. Click here to read the news item “German Team in talks with KMRL, corp” that came out in Times City on 27 June 2015.

Cochin is one of the business hubs in India, with poor fishing communities. The revival of the water transport system became a priority issue because of increasing demand and deteriorating infrastructure. With support from CDIA, a medium-term prioritized urban transport program was prepared that focused on ferry services, bus route improvement, and parking facilities for both motorized and non-motorized transport.

KfW, a German government-owned development bank and one of CDIA’s implementing organizations, will provide funding of 80 Million Euros for the said project.
