CDIA-assisted Project on Integrated Water Transport In Cochin, India Gets Approval for KfW Funding

The CDIA-assisted project on urban transport in Cochin, India that got linked to KfW financing in 2015 has been approved by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), India for KfW assistance worth 80 Million Euros for project implementation.
In 2010, with support from CDIA, a medium-term prioritized urban transport program was prepared for Cochin, which focused on ferry services, bus route improvement , and parking facilities for both motorized and non-motorized transport in Cochin City.
One of the business hubs in India, Cochin is characterized by poor communities largely populated by fishermen located in a broad water basin. The revival of the water transport system became a priority due to the increasing demand and deteriorating infrastructure.
