Following the conduct of the workshop on “Partnership between Local Government and Private Sector for Acceleration of Infrastructure in Indonesia,” on 19-20 October 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia, representatives of 5 local government units (LGUs), academe and other institutions signified interest in public-private partnerships (PPPs) for their urban infrastructure projects.

The workshop, organized by CDIA, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (PT SMI) and Yayasan Inovasi Pemerintahan Daerah (YIPD) aimed to impart knowledge on how to develop partnerships between and among various sectors to deliver urban infrastructure projects. It likewise sought to inform LGUs how they can maximize their benefit from external funding options for their infrastructure needs, apart from using the state or regional government’s budget.

Twenty-five participants actively joined in the discussions and practical exercises on various infrastructure financing topics.

“We hope that the training course has prepared the LGUs to explore PPP further,” said CDIA’s Capacity Development Advisor Thomas Hagedorn. “CDIA will always be ready to assist them take these partnerships forward and pursue a more integrated and sustainable urban infrastructure program,” he added.
