CDIA recently organized its 17th Program Review Committee (PRC) Meeting on 7-8 November 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany. The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) European Representative Office hosted the said meeting.

Participants included officials from the core funders of CDIA, such as ADB, and the Governments of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Deputy Director-General for Environment and Infrastructure Mrs. Tanja Rödiger-Vorwerk from BMZ, as well as CDIA’s Stakeholders Forum Representative Kirtee Shah were also among those present.

CDIA-GIZ Program Coordinator Claudia Hermes and CDIA-ADB Program Manager Joris van Etten presented CDIA’s Progress Report (Jan-June 2016), its Capacity Development Approach and concept on the prospective Trust Fund.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the draft of CDIA 2.0 Strategy for 2018-2022, which sets out the approach of CDIA in the coming years. The recommendations of the PRC members will be reflected in the final Strategy Plan, to be released in the first quarter of 2017.

The bi-annual meeting became an opportunity for participants to have a fruitful exchange of ideas on how CDIA may shape up its approach and engage with cities in the coming years. The critical inputs are set to invigorate CDIA to better assist cities in meeting their urban planning and infrastructure goals.
