On November 24, 2017, the Public-Private Partnership Center of the Philippines (PPPC) and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) from Indonesia conducted an exchange workshop on how to improve project preparation and institutional set-ups.

Two representatives from PT SMI, Ms. Reetta Pranari and Mr. Armando Marulitua were welcomed by PPPC Executive Director Ferdinand A. Pecson and Director Feroisa Francisca T. Concordia. After a round of introduction, similarities and differences regarding the phases and processes of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) were discussed. As both institutions support Implementing Agencies (such as national government ministries and local governments) in their respective countries in the application of PPP projects, the knowledge exchange was seen as a good opportunity for both organizations to learn from each other’s successes, innovations and lessons learned.

After the discussion, a meeting and a site visit were arranged with AF Payments Inc., the private partner of the Department of Transportation for the MRT Line 3. AF Payments aims to promote and propagate the use of “beep cards” in other transport modalities and commercial establishments in Metropolitan Manila.

Both PT SMI and PPP Center are working closely with CDIA in facilitating infrastructure project preparation and capacity development in Indonesian and Philippine cities.
