CDIA is keen to welcome Maria Mejia, our new intern for Capacity Development and Outreach. Maria is currently studying Global Change Ecology (MSc.) at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. Before joining CDIA, she worked at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany, where she assisted a project on enhancing climate capacities in the Global South. Maria had a rapid start in her professional career in her home country Colombia, where she worked for the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Research Institute of Biodiversity. She holds a double Major in Economics and Political Science; and a Minor in Urban Studies from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.

Maria is enthusiastic to work with the CDIA team in coordinating capacity development activities and in keeping partners and interested individuals informed about our activities in partner cities. Being interested about the environmental and social challenges of mid-sized Asian cities, she will contribute her experience on the knowledge exchange among cities.
