CDIA participated in the “Linking Infrastructure Projects to Finance Training Course” delivered by PT SMI on August 29-30, 2019 in Balikpapan, Indonesia.
The capacity building activity aimed to enhance the knowledge of cities and regencies in the Province of East Kalimantan on financing modalities and sources for their infrastructure projects. It likewise served as a platform for them to present, and get feedback on the projects they wish to develop and the appropriate financing option.
Urban Development Specialist Brian Capati presented CDIA’s work in several Indonesian cities such as Balikpapan and Singkawang, both of which originated from similar capacity building activities of PT SMI and are within the East Kalimantan Province.
“We appreciate our partnership with PT SMI as we are able to find a common ground for helping cities move their projects closer to reality. Just like in Balikpapan, the project pre-feasibility study on their water supply project, which was done by CDIA with PT SMI is now being utilized for market sounding with the private sector,” said Mr. Capati.
The second day of the workshop was devoted to the sharing of project ideas from six cities and regencies comprising Tablong, Tapin, Bontang, Banjar Baru, Sukamara and Menpawah.
PTSMI will conduct one-on-one sessions with those cities/regencies with viable proposals for further development. It looks forward to partnering with CDIA in project preparation for qualified projects.
PT SMI will be conducting four more Linking to Finance training sessions in Lombok, Makassar, Lampung and Bali until October 2018, out of which CDIA hopes to participate in two more sessions.
From 2016 to 2018, CDIA and PT SMI have jointly delivered Linking to Finance training courses for various cities in Indonesia.
