Season’s Greetings

Dear Partners, 

As we approach the end of 2024, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the year. Together, under the CDIA Trust Fund, we have made remarkable progress since 2018, supporting 47 cities across 18 countries in Asia in preparing inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban development projects. This is a testament to our collective efforts.  

We’ve marked this year with key milestones, having completed two project preparation studies (PPS): the Khulna Water Supply Expansion Project and the Vientiane-Nong Khai Cross-border Cable Car Project. Meanwhile, three PPSs are actively underway for the following: the Electric Bus Fleet as Public Service Project in Siem Reap, the Kathmandu Ecological Urban Renewal Project, and the Bangladesh Smart Cities Development Project. Additionally, two more PPSs are expected to be approved by the end of the year: the Empowering Mobility through Electric Urban Solutions (EMERGE) Project in Yerevan, Armenia, and the Climate Resilient Water Services Project in various cities in Uzbekistan. 

Beyond project preparation, 2024 has been a year of building knowledge and connection as CDIA hosted two training and three networking activities at the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt. These events brought together various governments, academe, businesses, and financial institutions to deepen understanding and collaborations for advancing climate finance, urban resilience, and good governance in cities.  

Looking ahead to 2025, we are optimistic that with your continued partnership, we can pursue more transformative initiatives toward better living conditions in cities across Asia and the Pacific.
