Chongqing Readies for Green Transformation

Chongqing in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has a long history of industrial development. To meet the goal of China’s 13th Five Year Plan, and towards both economic and environmental sustainability, the city strives to undertake a green transformation. On May 8-11, 2018, a series of capacity development activities were conducted to prepare stakeholders to shift from a traditional to a new development path, where technological innovation, environmental sustainability and social inclusiveness are the new norm.

MPWT Officials Lead Training on Wastewater Management

Key personnel from Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), trained by CDIA in 2017 have served as lead trainers in the wastewater management training held 6-8 June 2018 in Svay Rieng. The capacity development activity saw the participation of 22 key officials from the Department of Environment, Department of Public Works and Transport and city representatives of Svay Rieng, Ratanakiri, Prey Veng, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear.

Government Officials from Germany and Austria Visit a CDIA-supported Flood Project in Valenzuela

On May 2, 2018, Norbert Barthle, Germany’s Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Hubert Fuchs, Austrian Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) visited Valenzuela City, Philippines where they saw the progress of a CDIA-assisted flood risk management project.

Secretaries Barthle and Fuchs were joined by German Ambassador to the Philippines Gordon Kricke and Austrian Ambassador to the Philippines Bita Rasoulian, together with other officials of BMZ and BMF, and representatives from GIZAsian Development Bank (ADB) and CDIA.
