CDIA, through its Program Coordinator Mrs. Claudia Hermes participated in the Urban Infrastructure Network (UIN) forum held 15 June 2016 in Singapore to finalize UIN’s “Report on Urban Infrastructure Development in the APEC Region: Best Practice Policy Framework and Proposed Action Plans.” UIN was established in 2014 out of the recommendation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council to assist governments and key stakeholders in managing urban development challenges.
UIN’s report is expected to provide tools for APEC policymakers to drive responsive, inclusive and sustainable urban infrastructure development in the Asia-Pacific region.

CDIA is pleased to announce that after technical and financial evaluation of the proposal(s) received 12 July 2016 (18:00H, China Time), China Sustainable Transportation Research Center was selected to provide the pre-feasibility study (PFS) consulting service for the project: Shandong Spring City Sustainable Urban Mobility Development.

The long-term aim of CDIA is to contribute to the promotion of sustainable and pro-poor urban development, leading to improved environmental and living conditions for all in medium-sized Asian cities. In line with this, CDIA has recently updated and made available online its “Strategy and Action Plan for Pro-poor Urban Infrastructure Development.”

CDIA-ADB Program Manager Joris van Etten participated in the recently concluded World Cities Summit (WCS) held in Singapore from 10-14 July 2016.
With the theme, “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Innovative Cities of Opportunity,” the summit brought together more than 1,000 delegates from various cities around the world – allowing government leaders and industry experts to address liveable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships.

As part of its Cities and Climate Change Training Series, CDIA is set to conduct a training course on “Urban Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience” on 8-10 August 2016 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
This three-day training course aims to improve the climate change and urban resilience knowledge among senior-level managers and boost their efforts in integrating climate change mitigation and adaptation into their local strategies.

Mr. Neil Chadder has joined CDIA as Senior Urban Environmental Engineer effective 04 July 2016. Mr. Chadder is a water supply and sanitation engineer with over 30 years of experience in the urban development sector. He has worked throughout Asia and Africa on a wide variety of projects funded by ADB, KfW, JICA and the World Bank. Although he has been engaged in all aspects of the project cycle, including evaluation, his focus and passion is project development and preparation. Most recently, Mr. Chadder worked with the ADB and KfW on project preparation and implementation in Delhi, India.
