Key City Development Issues

Hai Phong strives to become an ecologically and economically balanced city (Eco2 City) by investing in a sustainable urban system that is integrated and multi-functional. The system would be beneficial in the long term for its citizens through the provision of vital services such as transport, energy, water, and waste management.

Details of Cooperation

CDIA supported the following activities: a) PFS on the improvement of wastewater treatment management, sewerage and drainage systems in the districts of Do Son and Duong Kinh; b) support the city administration in the development of an industrial and domestic wastewater collection and treatment system; c) assist the city in strengthening its own capacity for infrastructure delivery focusing on environmental sustainability and climate change; and d) link the identified investments to potential financiers.

Expected Development Outcomes

Upon implementation, the projects are expected to result in better living conditions for the residents in two districts through improved wastewater treatment and drainage solutions that reduce environmental risks and threats to human health. They will also reduce coastal sea-water pollution through improved wastewater treatment facilities, which can further stimulate the tourism industry and provide associated employment opportunities.
