Key City Development Issues

Rajkot Municipal Corporation has developed a City Development Plan for the period of 2007-2012 focusing on effective town planning schemes. The city is undergoing a major transformation, due to its immensely growing population. One of the main key development issues is to develop urban environmentally friendly transport solutions for the city.

Details of Cooperation

CDIA-supported activities include:
a) Preparation of pre-feasibility study (PFS) for high-priority infrastructure to promote urban transportation in Rajkot;
b) Capacity building support to Rajkot Municipal Corporation;
c) Linkage of PFS with potential investors for financing; and
d) Development of a marketing plan for Rajkot Municipal Corporation for the projects identified by CDIA.

Expected Development Outcomes

The project is expected to reduce CO2 emission & other air pollutants and improve energy efficiency of public transport. Improving the accessibility and affordability of public transport will also enhance the access or urban poor to municipal services and employment opportunities.
