Key City Development Issues

The overall city’s development plans focused on the extension of water supply and sanitation, particularly in the newly integrated towns. It also sought to improve its roads and harness its tourism potential.

Details of Cooperation

CDIA’s assistance in the city comprised the development of pre-feasibility studies of Sam Son and Thanh Hoa water supply and wastewater treatment facilities; recommendation for the institutional strengthening of Thanh Hoa Water Supply Company + provincial Urban Environment Company (URENCO); and identification of new financing and investment partners for the project.

Expected Development Outcomes

The interventions are expected to improve the environment in the city through the expansion of wastewater treatment and the upgrading of water supply facilities. Likewise, the project will help and support to improve the livability of the city while improving its tourism industry and associated employment opportunities.
